    pulse/vacuum hose replacement johnson/evinrude 18hp

I know this is an old thread I started, but was wondering if an older style 57-58 intake manifold/reed plate would work on a newer 22ci er. Based on this thread, I was thinking this might make my 1972 25hp idle like my 57 18hp. If so, I could probably bore the throat hole to match the opening...

1996 Johnson 115 60 degree lower bearing failure

Hey all, If you happened to catch a post I had a month or so, I purchased a boat that had a bad motor. I swapped the powerherad and finally got around to tearing down the seized one. First off i gotta say, "I love these motors". Entire teardown went faster than most other motors I have...

Long to short swap 1997 Johnson 115

Hey all,. I have a long shaft lower unit from a Johnson 115 looper that I would like to change to short. I have the needed parts. The driveshaft and water inlet are straight forward enough. What I'm wondering is the shift rod. I have rebuilt smaller lower units that you had to align the...

OMG, Do I Need To take apart my lower unit Johnson 115.

Here is the story, I went to pull a lower unit with a stuck driveshaft and got it off sans driveshaft (still in the powethead). When I opened the water pump case the key was nowhere to be found. The unit was pulled a couple weeks ago, so it may have dropped on the floor, or ..... Fell in the...

2000 Johnson 115hp Ocen Pro hidden flywheel.

I went to look at a boat today that I will probably buy regardless if the motor is worth fixing. The motor is a 2000 Johnson 115. I didn't look over it to close as the ad said bad motor. The seller is non-mechanical and said he didn't have it checked out by a pro. If the motor isn't seized...

    9.9 to 15 conversion exhaust.

I recently converted a 9.9 to a 15 by changing out the carburetor, Reed valve spacers, and the tuned exhuust tube. I didn't change the exhaust housing. Question is the new exhaust tube is about 1" shorter than the old and doesn't have the sealing surface on the gearcase side. Now that...

    Lower Crank seal 80's 9.9/15

Hey all , I have a 1981 Johnson 9.9 that has the seal retainer for the crankshaft lower bearing/driveshaft that has one seal P# 0321831 The later models (starting around 1984 (i think) have two seals the 0321831 as well as a 0321788 stacked. The seal housings are different. The housing for...

    pulse/vacuum hose replacement johnson/evinrude 18hp

I have a 1965 johnson 18hp in which had a hardened (to the point of it cracking off with slight pressure) hose/tube that runs from the pulse fitting (oppisite the fuel pump) to the intake manifold to the left of the carb. The nipple on the fuel pump side is very small (1/16 inch or smaller)...

    tilt troll retrofit older omc

I am really impressed with the quality of the older Johnson/Evinrudes. One thing that makes me take out the mercury or suzuki motor a lot of times is that there is no troll setting on the omc 's. Even my 6hp, with the title "Fisherman" doesn't have this feature. Go figure Has anyone ever...

Does anyone know if Boatinfo is ever comming back

I started a thread about a month ago that was immediately pulled by an administrator stating that iboats wasn't affiliated with boatinfo. I understand that, but was just wondering if any users on here have any inside info on the life of the site? I REALLY MISS IT. I loved those old brochures!

    9.5 shift seal/bushing stuck again

I worked on an old 72 Johnson 9.5 about a month ago that had been sitting for a while. It had a seized shift rod in the lower unit. I ended up disassembling the lower unit, pulled the rod, tapped the bushing so I could pull it and then picked the oring out. I just acquired 1967 9.5 that has...

    9.5HP water tube replacement.

When I went to change the impeller, as careful as I was, i pulled the water tube out of the powerhead when dropping the lower unit. Do i need to disassemble the leg and remove the powerhead to get to the rubber compression fitting/seal, or can I just push it back in? Thanks,

    Boatinfo Status?

I use this site so often was wondering if anyone knew if or when this great resource will be back up? It has been down for the past 3 weeks or so. I believe someone mentioned in an older post that there was a library download of files on the site. It would be awesome if that was available...

    Steering nut question

I'm trying to remove a teleflex steering nut from the pivot tube on an outboard. Instead of the nut unscrewing from the tube, the tube just turns. Do I need to just tighten the lock nuts super tight? I could also put some vice grips on the tube between the mounts, but would hate to distort...

    Seal puller help please.

I look to be purchasing my 15th outboard in the past year- these old things are addictive - and was wondering if my current seal puller will work. I have the one for 18-35hp from richards outboard tools and wanted to make sure it would work on a 1998 evinrude 25 (two cylinder). The seal in...
