Hello all,
I'm going to check out a 1975 Starcraft Chieftain for possible purchase this weekend. The owner only knows the engine is a "6 cylinder Mercury and the leg was rebuilt a few years ago."
I've always been an outboard guy so I have limited knowledge about which models to watch out...
Hello, I am going to look at this boat tomorrow. Owner doesn't know the make or length.
It looks like a Starcraft to me but maybe some of you experts might be able to help me out?
Not sure if I need another project but I like the boat.
Thanks
Sam
Hello gentlemen,
I know there are a million different ways to do anything but I would like to hear some thoughts on the best way to replace a transom on an aluminum boat.
1. Material - I've read different things about exterior grade plywood and marine grade plywood. What is the difference...
Hi, I'm looking at a couple boats right now and while I like the idea of a cuddy cabin I'm not sure if it is worth the space. Is it a place to store junk?
Considering all the time spent on the boat having fun in the sun vs. sleeping would an open bow be a better idea?
How much do you use your...
I see this advice getting posted a lot so I thought I would start a thread as a warning to all those thinking of using pressure treated wood in (or around) their aluminum boats and trailers.
Apparently certain types of pressure treated wood contain copper which causes dissimilar metal corrosion...
Hi,
I have a 1987 30hp Yamaha with a long shaft. Up for sale locally is a 1987 40hp Yamaha with a short shaft.
I have 2 boats and I need the 40hp to be a long shaft and the 30hp to be short.
Is it possible to do a swap here with these two engines? How easy is this to do?
Any advice...
Hi Guys,
A friend of mine is looking for a project boat and this one came up locally.
It is listed as a 15ft Starcraft but the guy doesn't know the model.
I figured you fellows would know more about Starcrafts than I. I will probably go look with him tomorrow. Any tips?

Anyhow on the first run I can't believe how loud this thing is. My 5hp yamaha kicker is a 2 stroke and at low idle it does...
I can't believe I actually have this boat! Just picked it up tonight. Which ironically happens to be my wife and I's anniversary. I postponed the dinner a couple hours and was a little concerned about the fallout but she seemed to be a good sport about it. She bought me a card but all I...
Hello I have a quick question.

While doing a bit of research I read something about boats of this era having to have the foam replaced because it is not closed cell and could...
Hello, maybe a dumb question but please educate me.
I have an old 1957 Crestliner Buccaneer aluminum boat. I believe the boat came originally with a piece of wood on the inside and outside of the transom.
Somewhere along the line the pieces of wood were replaced with two 0.25" thick pieces...
