    Mercarb 2bbl dumping fuel >1000rpm (visible drops/flow, not spray)

    Just rebuilt it. 2bbl Mercarb, 1991, 5.0 V8. I rebuilt with the solid lifter for the needle valve. One option in the rebuild kit was the sprung lifter for the needle valve. I'm going to try swapping that in as I've run across documents saying that solves the issue, but what else could be...

    91 Merc 5.0 - >1500rpm coughing/sputtering on water

    5.0, 2bbl carb. Brand new fuel pump. New spark plugs. Fuel filter really wasn't overly gummed/gunked up at all. New fuel/water separator. With the mouse ears on, on the driveway, boat hits 4000rpm just fine. In the water, anything above 1500rpm resulted in coughing/sputtering and the motor...

    Faded gel coat.

    Re: Faded gel coat. This is what I used. Woody Wax Brushes, Gloves, And Applicator Kits I'd get a buffer. Apply by hand, change buffing pads frequently/wash frequently. I used about 80% of a small bottle on a 19' bowrider. They also make marine rubbing compound. Can't really beat rubbing...

    Starter bolt snapped! 91 5.0 mercruiser

    Starter bolt snapped today, was our first water test. 3 cranks in the water and then whirring. Snapped below surface in the block...........any suggestions how I can get it out? Access is limited :( pretty frustrated right now.

    How do I identify my prop?

    Previous owner installed a rapture 3 blade stainless prop on my 5.0 1991 celebrity 190, alpha 1 g2. No other identifying markings are visible anywhere on the prop. I can obviously measure diameter, but what about pitch?

    1991 5.0 2bbl- Idles fine, no-load rev to 2000rpm, return to idle, stalls?

    Fresh gas, fresh separator, cleaned fuel lines. Carb has not been adjusted or touched. Idles fine, temps in line, runs at 2000rpm fine (no load), but return to idle and stalls out. Starts back up no problem.

    I'm guessing 5 quarts, but just guessing and I don't like to guess when it comes to oil capacities! Anyone know?

    Trim goes up/down but fluid squirts out of hole in reservoir cap?

    Trim works fine up and down but the fluid squirts out the vent hole in the cap? Any ideas what that might be?

    Metallic click while trying to start- '91 5.0

    Initially when battery power was low I got a light non-metallic click when trying to turn the motor over. Used jumper cables to add some juice to rather dead batteries and voltage per gauges was >12v, tried cranking and just got a metallic click now, almost like maybe a gear was hitting a tooth...

    1991 5.0 specs?

    Anyone have any specifications on a 1991 5.0 with thunderbolt ignition? It's sitting pretty in a '91 Celebrity 190 I'm picking up on the cheap. Bore/stroke, horsepower, etc. It may need to be replaced if I can't get it running, or I could have the block machined and swap in some new internals...
