What does the yellow wire do that comes from within the alternator? it does not have a post and nut ,
but comes from behind the little raised grill thing, on my previous Volvo engine this wire had been extended/taken up to the dash and connected to the back of the fuel gauge?

The manual says check level with dipstick, done that, and the oil is half way up the flat part of the dipstick ,
:confused:there are no markings on the dipstick that indicate whether it should come up to the top. or half way up or where? would be grateful if someone could enlighten me,

I have tried and tried to get Dimensions for the above plate,
I want to assure myself that the plate will cover the gaping great hole left by removal of the DPE Duo Drive
my plan is to fit the older Alpha 1 Drive and engine back into the Doner boat from which the KAD 32 engine...
So the engine and drive are fitted, but i wanted to keep my nice shiny Mercontrol ( looks and feels much better than the plastic Volvo one that came with the doner boat)
Having established with your help the direction of prop rotation for forward, i now find that when i push the Mercontrol...
If i push the control lever forward the cable end at the drive becomes shorter (pulls in, not what it says in the volvo manual)), however the drive engages gear and the Front propeller turns clockwise and back anti,
which way will my boat go, forward or back? my head is ablaze trying to work...
If I close the sea **** and connect a hose to the raw water flushing valve and put the other end in a replenishing barrel of water,
Do I run the risk of adverse effects to the Duo prop drive because i am not drawing water up through it?

I have my kad 32 engine on a pallet waiting to be fitted and its clear to see that at some time it has had a severe leak from the water strainer area,
I am guessing that this went unnoticed by the previous owner for some time,
the alternator works fine and there is some minor rust on the edges...
My merc had a switch incorporated in the Morse control so that the engine would only start in Neutral,
Now I am swapping the control cables for the new Volvo and notice no such switch on the remote? does it have a neutral safety switch? is it from some sort of sensor?Thanks
So every thing is removed disconnected etc and ready to remove the transom plate,
I have undone the 6x 19mm nuts with the little clamping plates behind them and left the nuts on the ends of the threads,
i tried a few taps with the persuader, nothing? it seems to be stuck...
