The past two times I have taken my boat out I have had problems with idling.
Here is whats going:
When I first start it in the morning it idles real rough.
Later in the day when I would pull up to a fishing hole and place the engine in neutral the motor would die.

i am new to this forum i was referred by a friend.
But my question is i have a 2006 optimax and my compressor has totally broken free from my motor, it snapped the cast aluminum around the bolts and also broke the stud on the back, i took it to work and tig welded it back together and...
My2006 Mercury Optimax 175 is smoking.
The only thing i have done that i think might have caused this was i added 10oz of Startron to 30 gallons of gas.

Water is also coming out the little exaust hole with the smoke below the pee hole...
I have oil that seams to be coming from under the flywheel, it does not seem like much but noticed a little last back in the fall when i was putting it up for the winter.
what could it be?

I have had 2 transducers ripped from the back of my boat from water at WOT and all i am left with is a wire.
I am wondering what i have done wrong should i move it to a differant location.?

I had bought this motor and noticed something hanging and i can not figure out what it is nor a place for it.
Also when i trim the motor down it sounds wierd not normal, it works fine but it just sounds odd going down going up its sounds normal.
1985 Mariner. 150 XR2
Bought the motor and it was turning 5800 rpm smoking and running rough.
I rebuilt the fuel pump it had a hole the size of a dime in it.
After rebuilding the fuel pump the motor is running way way better.
But running wide open I am now turning 7000-7200 rpm and it spikes...
1985 mariner bogs on holeshot and when loading on trailer.
Once the motor hit about 2000 rpm it take off like a rocket.
when loading on trailer it just bog and wont push up trailer.
I have installed new fuel line, bulb, rebuilt fuel pump and had the carbs cleaned.
Just replaced the fuel pump, the old one had a hole the size of a dime,
replaced everything back to the way it was and it will not hold prime the motor will run about 1000 yards.
