Trying to install an Aux. Trim Switch on my '96 Force 40HP. Where's the best place (if any) to tap in for the 12 volts for the switch. I already have the solid Blue and Green wires going to the relays. Thanks.
Picked up a Mom ON - OFF - Mom ON toggle switch to use as trim switch on motor. Wired it Blue-Red-Green. Problem is I used the Red wire on Down relay for the 12 Volt source and fried the Green wire on the switch when I pushed it down - Trim up worked. Guessing I used the wrong 12 Volt source...
Anyone happen to know what Brand & Model Fishfinder came with the above? Neighbor bought boat that had orig. FF taken off - still has ducer & wiring. Thought he might to be able to find something compatible to hook up to the ducer he has. Thanks.
Believe I have a '96 Force 40hp. Have read where a range of these models are pretty much the same. Need to check l/u oil but need new washers first (if they use them). What is the part # and does IBOATS have them. Thanks. Or do they use O-Rings?/
Can muffs be used on the titled motor? My genius son-in-law bought a set of the round type from Wally World last year for a 6HP Rude and has not had a use for them. I may want to use them on a boat I'm looking at buying. Thanks.
I'm aware of the "Prop" forum here on IBOATS and looked for recommendations but only found two far away. Since I value the opinions on this forum I'd like to hear what you guys have to say on where to send my two blade 8X7-1/4 alum. prop for rehub and refurbish. Would like to have contact info...
I finally got the flywheel off and started cussing myself. I pulled it off because I thought the coils needed replacing 'cause it was to hard to start-but they looked new! I didn't remember them being replaced several years ago when I took it to a shop and all I remembered the guy telling me is...
This flywheel does not have any holes to bolt on a harmonic balancer puller. The only holes are not threaded and they are around the perimeter of the flywheel in no particular order. I tried to resize a pic to d/l but I can't get the f***ing thing to work. If necessary I'll try again but my...
Thinking about buying a 56 Johnson 10hp. Do you think I would notice much more power than my 67 Johnson 6hp? The boat is a 14' Jon. Since joining this forum and reading a lot of posts, I've become attached - so to speak - to old outboards. My 6hp pushes the boat fine for how it's used. Just got...
67 Johnson 6HP. Although 40 years old, not used that much and not abused. Going fishing and tried to start - was harder to get started than normal. When started, had what seemed to have more blue smoke coming out than normal -thought it had flooded. Don't remmber the exact situation but had...
'67 Johnson 6hp - Motor runs good, don't think it idles all that good. Took off carb and cleaned. It lookes real clean inside except for a little gunk around the high speed jet when removed (cleaned idle jets and passages with wire). It is still hard to start (when "cold" - starts good when...
