Unhappy Re: Mach 1 (by Freedom Boats)

Sorry to say, I've been away for some time what with work and all. I never got to play last year and the weather has been so ****ty this year, I just got the boat in the water today! I have not heard from the Felt nephews, so I e-mailed Matt. I should hear from him shortly.

As for my boat, it seems I have some bad exhaust manifolds. All four are cracked.

I not really looking forward to this one...

    Anybody have ideas for alternatives?

I am new to iboats and was looking for info on a recently acquired Mach 1 by Felt Industries. My title says 1983, but the earliest Mach 1 information I can find is 1984. I cannot read the model # (faded), but it is approx. 17' 6" in length and about 84" in width. The motor is a Mercruiser 488. I was looking for models that were available that year to try and figure out what I have if anyone has any info. on the subject.

Hey guys... happened upon this forum, glad to see others are liking these boats as much as me...

I bought a Mach1 Condor, '89 25ft alpha one out and 350 merc inside. I have piloted boats my whole life, mainly my fathers, but this is the first boat i bought myself and owned myself. It is a great boat, been in the gulf of mexico, up and down the intercoastal and runs great for the weight and what not. some people have told me it sort of like a lake baot, more often though they call it a classic. The poeple in the marina i keep in sometimes comment on how original it looks compared to the other boats.

Anyone know of any manuals or other parts or what not for this boat let me know!

Picking mine up Tuesday. It looks like good info on the boat is going to sketchy and hard to find. I'm looking forward to some kind of web page getting put together (hint hint Mr. Degree) so we can help each other out.

I hope you got your problems worked out degree...

I would love to know more information on all of these. My Mach 1? Not absolutely sure which it is. Registration is 1991 Mach 1 at 20.5" open bow. Assuming she's a MV2150BR (assuming BR is bow rider as this is an open bow) with an Alpha lower and a 350small block. ANY additional information would be great....

Hey Everyone I just came across your forum and I became intrigued. I have been a Mach 1 owner since early 1999. I have a 1989 Mach 1 Concorde 27 ft with twin 350's and alpha drives. The boat is almost completely original with under 500 hours. The boat has treated me very well with just routine maintenance. Unfortunately I just listed the boat for sale due to my family growing and we need an open bow or more cockpit space. I feel like I am trading in my sportscar for a mini van. I love this boat. I put her on ebay last night. Good to see some others loving the Mach 1 line. Please keep the info coming.

    Default Mach 1

I just bought a 1988 Mach 1 Concord 235. I bought it for $3000. It has the 454 with Bravo. Anyway...what a steal. Ran great the day I bought it and intend to use it for quite awhile. Where do you buy parts for these boats? I really need to know. Thanks, Motoes

I have had my MV2540CC for awhile now. Parts (depending on what they are) are hard to come by. I myself have taken out the carbed 454 in favor of a 350MAG EFI mated to the Bravo 1. Th Bravo got beefed up with bigger U's and of course a new gimbal and bellows. I have only ever seen one that was close to mine and it was in pictures. We were down at Cumberland for the poker run a few weeks ago and only saw two other Mach 1's. I will post pictures after I re-do the interior this winter. The colors will remain red, white, black and am adding silver. Does anyone have a picture of the origional logo? I am going to have it stitched into the sunpad and really don't want to have to try to "design" a new one. Thanks.

    Default Restoring Striping on Gelcoat

    Hi Guys,
I have a 87 Mach I 2350 in which the boat is in great condition. I've recoved the seats and rebuilt the wood engine cover etc. However, boat, being blue/white, the blue paint stripe running along the side / windows/ around back by exhaust has faded badly. I've tried buffing (regular buffer), compounding, general compound, and waxing.

I've taken to auto body and they don't recommend working on boats with gel coat.

    Any recommendations????

    Thanks,
    Lori

Hello-new to thread and iboats. I have a '87 2350 Condor with a single 305(I think) and an alpha. I do love the boat but want a better hole shot. My prop is a 21 pitch and considering going to 19....any ideas on a better hole shot? Top speed on glass is about 39-40....normal????

I bought a 1985 condor a two years ago for $2,000. I put 6,500 hundred into it and now have a brand new boat. Check out the pics!!! I purchased new seats from Kendor Marine in Wisconsin and finished the interior based on the color of the seats. Added trim tabs to it, otherwise the engine and drive are original. I have the 5.7L 260HP Merc with an alpha drive.

Try wet sanding it, I did that with mine. Started with 600 wet, 1000 wet and then two passes with a polisher. Finish up with wax. The attached picture is the final product.....I could not believe the gel coat came all the way back after 25 years.

    Hello-
I just bought a 1986 Mach 1 Concorde with a Mercruiser 454 Magnum (I'm told that Bill Felt owned this boat until 5 years ago, when he sold it to the guy I bought it from -- college buddies). Titles should be in the mail tomorrow, along with manuals and paperwork for the motor (new 5/2010). I'm planning to do a bit of restoration work on the boat and I'm trying to find as much information as possible before I dive in. Does any one have or know where I can find a manual or any other paperwork for the Concorde boats? The guy I bought this boat from called Mr. Felt last week to inquire about top speed and fuel economy, so I'll ask him to call him back to see if he can track anything down. Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Matt

I've got a 22' 1989 Condor MV2250/MV2350 (don't remember the model number). It's powerd by a Mercruiser 350 Magnum V8 pushing 270hp with the Alpha 1 outdrive. I've done regular maint. to her and love it. She is heavy but cruises great around 40 mph with a 21p prop. Pulls tubes and skiers great too. My only issue with it being the cuddy cabin is that there is no bow anchor locker. I'm going to redo the sundeck and bench seat covers this winter. I have the sport top and just put a Bimini top on it this past weekend. i would love to know if there is a way to get a full cockpit cover. I mean all the snaps are there. Anyone have one?

Default .Re: Mach 1 Owners Manual

I have an owners manual that i cant get down to a size small enough for upload. Any recommendations, its 55MB.
I recently ran across my original packaging which included the owners manual for my 1988 Mach 1 Condor 2350 single 454 and stock. I think this could be of tremendous help to alot of our mach 1 folks. Loaded with great info. I've had this boat for about 12 years. Its the most dependable boat I've ever owned. I run a 25 pitch prop which will hit 65 mph if i am low and alone. I am going to try and download this manual, it is approx 40 pages so if it doesnt work, email me and we can figure a way to get to ya another way. Its not a perfect copy, my scanning skills are not great but its very readable.

Bill Felt was an officer of Glastex Co. (boats). He apparently started Mach 1 Boats as part of Felt Industries. Felt Ind. was bought out in March of 1991 by Freedom Boats, who then produced Mach 1 Boats by Freedom Boats. After this, things get a bit sketchy, but Kyte River Boat Co. bought the molds from Freedom Boats in 1998. One of the molds (for the MV2200 Playmate) was sold to Luxor Marine in 2003.

In 1991, Bill Felt-along with his wife Genevieve, Derick Espeut, naval architect, and Mr. Chick Powell, also of Mach 1 Boats-started Envision Boats. Bill passed away in 1997.

OK. With the little bit of history I have been able to dig up out of the way, I'd like to mention that my MV2700 Concorde weighs in at about 4,750 pounds dry, measures 26.58 feet in length and has a 96 inch beam. Since mine is a 1987 model, it came with Alphas on the back behind twin 330 HP Mercruisers. My particular boat also has radar, GPS with chartplotter, microwave and fridge. I've posted pictures elsewhere in iboats.

I'm still trying to find a list of suppliers to Mach 1 Boats since I need a frame for one of my port-o-lites and I cannot find a supplier. If anyone has this information, I would be most grateful to learn of it.
