Well I took the boat out this weekend and had great luck with it at first. I started loosing power and running rough, then found as I tried to shut off the motor I was only killing one cylinder as it was still running; although roughly. I had to goose it and return to shut off, but what I think my problems are is the wiring. I look at the transome to find two small relays that were screwed to it. One had two wires off of it and one more coming off. No doubt it is not the original wiring, but can someone tell me the wiring that should be there so I can just bypass this, replace this and rewire the motor. I just have had enough problems and want to solve this issue. By the way when I plugged them back to where I thought they came from, it still would shut down one cylinder. The ignition switch is new and all of the wires are intact and hitting nothing. It seem to have been rewired once. Can someone just help me out with how to wire it supposing the was nothing there to go by, would be easier in my opinion. It also has the starter relay, the one like an early ford on the transome as well. It is a 1958 evinrude big twin with electric start. I have never had this problem also, has always killed firmly on the first try. It kinda caught me blindsided.
Thanks to all.
