wiring diagram for tilt & trim 85 Evinrude

If anyone can help me with wiring diagram to hook up my tilt & trim?
I just replaced my outboard merc, to a evinrude. the merc,had the thing on the side of the motor. The evinrude has a box that goes in the boat the wires
hook to. any help please.the boat is a 88 model and the evinrude is early 80"s

It looks like the plug on the box has three wires, Blue/white it down, Green/white is up and the red/white is the positive lead.

It takes more power to raise the motor which is why the 1979/1980 PT&T only has one solenoid to raise the motor; blue and white is up/trim out and not down/trim in which is green and white.

Ok my 79 evinrude power tilt&trim Only has two wires comming out of it!
A Green wire and a Blue wire...
I'm lost.........

It apears my trim motor has two wires like the 82 thru 90 evinrudes even though the model# says 85999R which can be a 79-80 model from what i,ve seen.
so might need a wiring diagram for that model?

OK, do you have either a relay box or solenoid box for your PT&T?

If so could you describe what is inside as relays or solenoids?

I seen your diagram PT&T and thats the way I hooked it up but it powers one way but not the other way. i better start at the begining. The PT&T worked when I got it the man had wires everwhere. After fixing the leaks I removed some wires that the diagram didn't have. the motor wasdn't good so I had it rebuilt. I checked the motor to see if it was working and it is. But when I connect the wires to the junction box (where the silenoid is) the motor work one way. the wires are connected just like the diagram. I had to put a three way switch. 1 is up 2 is off 3 is down.

Oh I forgot the engine starter quit working.


I found on another site forum a two solenoid hook up. Can I switch my single solenoid to a two solenoid system?
