Wiring on 1966 60hp Evinrude

I'll try this again since I lost my last thread after the board went down..

So myself and two of my roommates bought a older boat that we want to use for fishing/skiing/tubing/babe cruising( ). Anyways we got it dirt cheap.

It has an older 60 hp v4 evinrude outboard motor. Only problem is that the motor is not wired up and installed 100%. I'm wondering if anyone here has any boating experience(such as installing an outboard or just outboard/boat experience in general...)

It has what looks to be most of the components needed. Right now, I need a gas tank and battery for sure. There also seems to be a bracket missing that holds the steering cable in place and a bracket missing where it connects to the motor. Anyone know where I could get something like these brackets?

*edit* Did a lil research again and its rack and pinion steering..

Also is there any way to tell the type of steering system it uses? Hydrolic cable or rack steering? It looks to be hydrolic.

Ok, the motor was originally supposed to be pulley steering but the boat is set up for cable system.. I need some sort of mount that screws into the steering cable and mounts to the boat and then to the motor so it will steer.

you've got a mess, but it can be cleaned up. the wiring in the box looks complete, but the battery cable need to be replaced. the steering cable need a transom mounting bracket that keeps the seath from moving, so the rod will move in and out. it looks like they just used a bolt to attach it to the motor. the electrical i could probably firgure out if i were there, you need a wiring diagram..i don't have a manual for your motor.

i really like the side mounted seats. you can get marine vinyl on ebay by the yard and recover your self. over all for it's age it is in good shape. new steering of ebay,
