I'm in the middle of a possible VRO problem related to over oiling and have not yet had time to run the necessary tests on my 150 Johnson 1995. I also have a non-working tachometer and have been reading posts related to the gray wire and the rectifer. Is it possible that these two problems are related? I believe the gray wire from the VRO connects directly to the gray rectifier wire and the purple wires connect the vro to the rectifier. Do the VRO wires have anything to do with regulating the oil and fuel or are they simply "sends" for warning horns?
