Should my engine unlock when put in forward gear?
Just wondering if my 92 Evinrude 65 hp (not power trim) should be unlocking itself when in forward gear. It doesnt. Im just wondering in case I hit something? Will this lock mechanism slip under a big load? I dont want to leave it unlocked either because i use reverse quite a bit when fishing.

No it doesn't. If I remenber correctly it will break loose if you hit something but I think it takes a pretty good hit to do it.

Can somebody else confirm this? I really dont want to rip the transom out of my boat someday if it doesnt unlock.
