    Default Shift Rod Screw

    Boat: 1965 Evinrude 60hp Sportfour
Problem: Lost Shift Rod Connector Screw OMC 304204(screw) 301551(lock washer)

Hello again! I have lost my shift rod connector screw yet again, and am wondering if anyone can give me the details on the screw(thread pitch, length, etc...). All info is above, however I was wondering if I can go to Lowe's and pick up a screw and lock washer. Thing is, none of the sites that have the screw give the thread pitch and length. Do any of yall know these details about the screw? I may just order it, but it's a beautiful day to ride the bike, so I don't mind going to Lowe's!

    Thanks!

    Chris

If it is the same screw as the newer motors, no lowes will not have the correct screw. it is a specialty screw. go to a dealer or a outboard repair shop, they should have one laying around. I am not familiar with that old of a motor so I am posting assuming it is like the newer models.

You will need a DVA adapter http://www.usatoolwarehouse.com/usat...e/ESI-640.html First test compression, Second test spark with a spark gap tester set a 7/16 gap, Third check timing, next CLEAN your carbs properly,

It is a 1/4-28 x 1/2" stainless steel screw with a 3/8" head and screwdriver slot. You probably can find something to Gerry-rig in there till you get a stainless one from a dealer.
