Is this the right year outboard for what is being listed for sale?? 25 evinrude 1979

Just wondering if this seems like the right year for this motor, seller listing it as a 1979 motor but when I looked at images on google the cowl decals don't seem to match other 1979 25 hp's. Does anyone know if this seems like the right motor cover decals for this motor. He claims the model number is 25904R. I haven't seen the motor so not sure if it is a short or long shaft. Somewhere I read that it is saltwater model whatever that means. Are these any good? Anything to check in particular with these motors when I go to look at it? thanks I appreciate it.

The model number corresponds with a '79......ditto for the cowl.....

$150 is good for parts alone, it's a steal if it runs. This motor is rope start. Electric start is a option.

Hahaha, yeah you can see the rope pull in the pic. Also, there is an R at the end of the model # which I believe means rope start for this series and year motor.

The motor cover is correct. Very nice looking motor for it's age. It is a steal at the price. IF it isn't burned up or something. There was no such thing as a salt water model. But any of them will tolerate salt water as well as any other motor.

25904 is a 1979 rope start, short shaft
25905 is a 1979 rope start, long shaft

25952 is a 1979 electric start, short shaft
25953 is a 1979 electric start, long shaft.

The electric start did not have a tiller handle.

The "R" indicates any mid-year changes that were made--IF there were any changes. Otherwise it means nothing.
