    Default recirculation valve

    on a 1996 200 hp evinrude how can you check this and I looked at the exploded view I think I know where it is but it does require removing the carb

    There are 6 of them and probably an inline one in the hoses. They only allow flow in one direction. The manual says to use a syringe full of alcohol and try to push alcohol through the short hose and the valve. You should not be able to, but you should be able to draw air back into the syringe. If you can flow both way the replace the valve. I've tried cleaning them but never had much luck.
