Default This probably isn't good... Photos

Bought this boat cheap and have had some issues with the engine. Its a 1968 Evinrude 55hp 3 cylinder engine. New spark plugs, new ignition, carbs cleaned, compression 115 in all 3 cylinders.

I finally got it started and it idles, doesn't run good when throttled up so i'm thinking just some tuning there but i put in a bottle of Seafoam (with 5 gallons of gas) to ensure everything was cleaned well. Mixed at 50:1.

Get it running on Muffs and after about 5 minutes i notice this gray sludge coming out of the prop... Its defiantly oily but i'm not sure where from. Any help?

Out of the prop it is unburnt two stroke oil and gas. Do not rev the engine on the muffs it is not good for it.
I love the smell of a two stroke early in the morning

After you get done running all the seafoam out of it let it idle for another 15 mins. Then take it to the lake and run the heck out of it.

Do check the gear case oil. If that oil came from your gear case, you do not want to run the heck out of it!

A '68 should not be run on muffs. it must be run in a test tank with water filled to about and inch or two below the main exhaust port.

Why ? It's got the water pickups on the lower part of the g/c on the sides.

The 1968 55 is a muff motor complete with electric shift. OP if you change the gear oil make sure you use Type C gear oil made specifically for electric shift gear cases. DO NOT USE 85W90.
