piston stop for 150 evinrude

Anyone have any ideas where I can get a piston stop or make one for my crossflow motor? My auto parts store doesn't have'em. I just want to verify my pointer for timing issues.

You should be able to get one from any Evinrude dlr. If you are handy with machine work or know somebody that is you can make one out of an old spark plug.

Let me add....
I highly recommend that you DO NOT install this tool and then turn the key!

I did just that. Installed it, got busy with something else, came back thirty mins later, and for some stupid reason, turned the key.
Engine spun 350 degrees, hit the tool, punched a hole in the piston, and knocked the threads out of the spark plug hole in the head.

Needless to say, I was not happy.

Now THAt is a major pain.
I thought they worked like a dial guage but see they are threaded, not slip.
