I recently bought some spray paint - OMC brand, listed a range of years it would match which included my engine. It turned out to be noticably different - definitely more cream colored than my engine. I felt I could have matched it at least as close, probably closer by testing a couple different cans of standard white enamel (which is what the OMC paint is). That would be my recommendation. Maybe take a sample into a place that could provide you some advice. I bought my primer and supplies at a high end custom auto paint shop because they gave me good advice on prep and priming. And the supplies (primer, etc.) didn't really cost a lot more than the local big box. You'll need some special primer (the green stuff) if you have bare metal.

I'm not sure how much use this will be to you, but I just completely repainted my '58 Johnson and had the paint matched by the supplier I use at work. They have a colour analyser which can match just about anything, and the Holiday Bronze they made for me is absolutely spot on, but it did cost me twice as much as the paint for the colour matching service!I had it made in cellulose (I think you call that "lacquer" in the US?) which is what the original paint was, but it could have been made in any type of paint I wanted, 2 pack acrylic, epoxy etc...If you can find a colour reference code any paint supplier should be able to match the colour for you, and they won't charge for colour matching either. If you don't have spray equipment many places can even put it in a spray can for you for a small charge.

Any auto body shop can match it perfectly. If you would like spray cans, you can get them at the link below, but being older, it may not match perfectly. I painted my entire cowl with it a few years back and it still looks like the day I did it... TEMPOENGINEPAINT.Oh Yeah, most OMC throttle cables are all the same. Dealer will have them or places like West Marine, *********, Cabela's and of course, I-boat Megamall. Just put in the keyword "Throttle Cable" on any of those sites...

does anyone know the original paint for 1970? (20hp). Dealer says forest green, but a catalog I found on a link here it says dark green. Confused!
