no stream from a new water pump job 1983 35 hp johnson, the tube is in the hole.

Just did a water pump replacement on a 1983 johnson long shaft tiller. Chucked drive shaft up in a drill and placed le in the tank and water was pumping through wp supply tube. When motor was started (with pump under water) there was little to no water going through tell tale (tt) on back of motor. Water is seen flowing through the tell tale on the front of the le. Small amount of steam noted to come through tt. At higher rpm more steam noted but no good stream seen. Do not know where to go from here. Tried to run a wire back up through tt to try unplugging it. No go.

Problem solved. Cleaned tt out better.
