PILLAZAKI, I HOPE I AM TELLING YOU CORRECT. MY NEIGHBOR HAS BEEN IN BOATS FOR A LONG TIME. I JUST BOUGHT A 1977 75HP EVINRUDE FROM MY UNCLE. MY NEIGHBOR TOLD ME THE TWO HOLES SHOULD BE SHOOTING A STREAM. MINE IS NOT SO I AM TRYING TO FIND OUT HOW TO GET THE FOOT OFF OF MY MOTOR SO I CAN CHANGE THE IMPELLER. GOOD LUCK BUDDYE BUT FOR $19 I AM NOT GOING TO CHANCE IT. PLUS SOMEONE TOLD ME IF IT WAS STORED OUTSIDE DIRTDOBBERS ARE BAD ABOUT CLOGGING THEM UP. BUT I DO THINK THAT IS WHAT THEY ARE FOR.

no tell-tale, but will sometimes see a spray or mist of water coming from the two holes on the back of the leg under the powerhead (otherwise, just some exhaust). There is a bypass valve that sometimes directs water out of these ports. With the motor at operating temperature, you should be able to hold your fingers or the side of your hand on the top of the heads for a few seconds without burning yourself -- indicates that cooling water is properly flowing through the water jackets.
