Need help starting 1973 johnson javelin 85hp outboard

Hi everyone my name is Chris and Im new to the site.
I just bought a 17ft boat with a 1973 85hp johnson javelin outboard on it.
My issue is that she is not getting any spark to any of the 4 plugs. I have done a lil research on here before posting. I read that there are kill switches and lanyard switches and so on but I dont know if she has these. There is a lil metal nipple on the remote could that be for a lanyard?? Also is there sopposed to be any buzzer noise when i turn the key to the run position? If so is there a way to bypass all these kill switches to see if she will get spark before I go spending tons of money replacing ignition parts.

Also she turns over with plenty of compression and power but wont start/run do to no spark.

Look on your power pack for a black wire with a yellow tracer. Disconnect that wire at the pack and it will eliminate your kill system. Check and see if you have spark, do not try to start the engins as it will not turn off unless you choke it off.

Thank you I will try that In the Morning. So should I just disconect the fuel from the motor so she doesnt start?

Ok so no luck for me today. I disconected the black wire with the yellow tracer and still no spark.
Anyone have any ideas. Once again this is my first boat and first outboard engine.

on the main wiring harness along side of motor, about in the middle you should see where there is a bump kinda like its pregnant, theres a fuse. might just check that first. Post back you results.

just checked it Buss fuse aga20 is still good.

Ok your going to have to check continuity with a volt/ohm meter. Check any and all wire connections. Also, is there power to that fuse? Going to be a process to find and locate the culprit. I would suggest getting a OEM manual for the specific engine model. It will give you all testing procedures on what and how to test. Good luck.

Ok I havent yet gotten a manual for it. I was wondering if anyone knows what sends power to the coils?? I took off the flywheel and cleaned everything up but still no spark. I wanna see if i can find the problem before I spend the money i dont have. I want to get her running and then sell it.
