Looking for part # for 1961 Johnson 40 Hp outboard...

Hello All,

I am looking for the tiller handle for a 1961 Johnson 40 Hp outboard. I have seen a couple on eBay and I figured that I should find out the part number of the tiller handle before blindly purchasing unknown parts. So if anyone has a list of part numbers for a 1961 Johnson, can you please tell me what the tiller handle is? Thank-you so very much!

That handle was made for many years and has many numbers according to what plastic grip it has. One such number I'm looking at right now is 377949. Johnson, Evinrude, and Gale motors all use the same handle but have different plastic grips, and all will work on your Johnson. Same handle also used on other horsepower motors such as 28,33,35,50 and more. The two piece split handle is the one that you don't want.

I was curious about a part number, and you came through, thanks. 377949 is one of the part numbers that I will use to figure out if I will purchase off of eBay. Great now I have something to refer to when browsing and asking questions about tiller handles.
