Is there ANYWHERE I can view repair guides for a 60 VRO Johnson outboard? I particularly interested in the cooling system and where exactly is the "pee hole" on this motor.
Thanks,
Jay

You best bet would be to get yourself an OEM Service Manual. Check ebay, or www.outboardbooks.com for a factory reprint.
What exactly is the issue with your outboard? What is the model number?
The tell tale is located at the rear of the motor. There will be a black water line that runs from the block to a 'nipple' on the cowl where the water from the pump will exit.
the tale tell should be starboard stern side of motor. remove cover, you will see the hose. probably clogged, vermin love to live there over winter.

Please, NO PM's (Private Messages) regarding boat/engine problems. they will not be answered.
That is what these forums are for. Post your questions, in the appropriate Forum.

If you are running hot, I would first look into the impeller. When was it last changed? WHat about the t stats?
I received your PM, but if you post your question in the thread there will be more eyes to input their ideas.
If you are unsure of the age of the water pump, I would drop the lower unit and replace it. It is not difficult, yet much easier with a manual, especially your first time. I would also change the t stats as it sounds as if 1 is stuck shut by the description you provided in the PM. While it is out, flush the cooling system with the garden hose or compressed air from the water line at the lower unit to the t stat housing, then backflush from the t stat housing to the water line. Also ensure the water intake area is free of debris. If your alarm was not sounding, I would also look into testing that. This video may help as well. Good luck.

I found the manual that you will need, at a good price as well.
