    Default johnson j225txced wont start

Replaced stator and timer base syncronized and de-carbed. Started running rough at low speed with a ticking and squeak sound then stalled. will not start except if I set the throttle wide open it will start for 10 seconds then die. Motor has good spark and turns over Compression @ 75 across but seems to be lacking fuel before if I squeezed the primer bulb it would flood the motor now it does not? Help!!!!!

O.K I will look into the carbs but what is the ticking and intermitent squeak? It did not produce this noise before the tun-up/decarb, Repair manual suggests blow seals or bad bearing but the motor was rebuilt in 98.

thats an interesting problem, not one I envy.

if it wasn't getting fuel, was it getting oil (VRO) ?
or are you running on pre-mix.

I am using the VRO. When trying to start and when it does there is alot of smoke. I pulled the plugs and they are wet with oily gas so I think the system is working but in the past if I squeezed the primer bulb it would flood the engine and would have to pull the plugs turn it over and blow out the fuel but this time it is not spitting fuel when I try this, I never primed the motor and it always started fine. Any ideas on the noise?

"if I squeezed the primer bulb it would flood the engine " either your float needles are not closing, or the ingition primer is leaking. where is the red handle on the primer. it should be like this.

The red handle is as pictured. The engine does not flood lately when I prime the bulb that is what's different than before the tune-up decarb as well as the squeak and tap noise. Could the vro pump be the source of the noise? I pulled the fuel line off after the bulb and pumped the bulb it does not come out in a heavy stream but seems like its's full of air with minimal gas coming out. Also, when I was pushing in the key to prime the motor for cold start it was clicking at the motor I had nobody with me to hear where it was coming from but I could not hear this clicking before when priming.
