johnson 70 hp 1999 seeps 2stroke oil from exhaust

Hi all, engine runs well, however if left standing for a couple of weeks, can be difficult to start and when it finally starts there is a lot of smoke for about 5 mins. (excess 2 stroke oil).this excess oil is also visible seeping from exhaust.Very embarrasing at the boat ramp!!any suggestions?

hello sounds almost like the oil checkvalve in the OMS pump is bad. or the oil tank cap vent is clogged. my 120 will load up on oil if left to long without running. if I wasnt so lazy I would change the pump. but it gives me a reason to run it weekly

thanks for that, i will check the oil tank vent, also tell my wife that it is nessesary to take the boat out at least once a week!

To Mrs. Maddog_of_oz: You have to take the boat out at least once a week or the bottom will dry out, and when that happens it has to out twice a week to get it back into shape. How's that Oz
