Default Johnson 5.5 CD14 Recoil Starter

My old Johnson CD14 (year?) runs strong and smooth. I have not been able to use it for the last few years because the recoil starter doesn't work often enough to get it started. The motor is on the original boat it came with including gas tank. Are there any parts for this old motor or is it at the end of its life? Thanks for any input or suggestions.

What part's do you need for the starter? They should'nt be hard to find. If it is just the starter, I would certainly fix it.Those can be nice runnng little engines.

It's not too hard to replace the recoil spring. Anyplace that carries OMC parts should have one that will work. Complete recoils and other parts come up often on the auction sites, that's a real easy fix...unbolt the old and bolt the new one up.

Coinkydinky...was just on the auction site and found this item (170012395207) which looks like a recoil starter for a QD14. Plug the item number into the search field and hit the Enter key...it'll take you right there. Love those 50's Johnsons.
