I attempted my first carb rebuild today on my 1991 johnson 28hp. When the fuel line is connected it just pours fuel out of the front of the carb when I crank the motor. The strange thing; when I disconnect the line wait about 20 minutes the motor fires right up and runs at idle. I'm pretty sure I screwed up the clip that attaches the needle to the float. Can someone tell me or post a pick of how the clip connects to float and if these are symptoms of the needle not being installed properly. Thanks
It sounds like you have a needle/seat or float problem.
Look in the "Top Secret File" at the top of the page, there is a section on carb overhaul there that might help you out.
