Cool Johnson 1999 25 hp starving for fuel

Hi... I have a 1999 Johnson 25 hp Modle# J25ELEED. It started this season and ran for a good for 10 min in bucket of water and then shut down. I determined it was starving for fuel when it would start when spraying in WD40 in carb. it would start run for a moment than shut down. I just rebuilt the fuel pump, checked fuel tank and replaced with fresh fuel, new hose and squezze ball. I have fuel pressure in squezze ball and fuel to pump. The engine strart runs for for a few seconds and quits. I opened fuel bowl nut and get a small amount of fuel coming out.. Before I remove the carb from engine does anyone have an idea for me... Thanks Wayne

Ok I took the carb. off and found some rubber gasket in the needle and seat. I put it all back together and the engine is running... Thanks.

New issue: The engine is running but at idle it has a miss... It sounds as if your trying to shift it when it misses. It will miss a few times then it will die... I have a feeling I have to remove the carb again. I have new coils and plugs on the engine and have checked the spark and it is good so What do you think... Thanks Wayne

Float level set too low. What you are experiencing, per your description, is a; "lean sneeze".

you generally just bend the tab that hits your needle valve, I usually set mine so the float rest even with the carb upside down. Are you sure you have good clean fuel, a small amount of water in your fuel or old fuel can also cause your [problem.

Thank You for your help Sparkieboat... I have new fuel I had that happen to me a long time ago so I learned from that mistake..lol. Before I pulled the starter off again to get to carb. I played with the idle screw and it seems to be better. I will bay test and see what happens. If no luck I will do what you said.. Thanks again Wayne

could be a clog in your idle passage..try running a concentrated mix of 1 gallon premixed fuel and 1 can Sea foam, this will help clean carbs and also help decarb pistons,..warning expect lots of smoke..
