    Unhappy Johnson 1997 150 HP FFI start on Cold, Hard to start on Warm

    Hello I am from Mexico. This Weeked I was fishing on Venustiano Carranza Lake on Coahuila state. The motor start ok at the first try. But after be fishing 2 hours on a Place is hard to start it take up to 14 trys. Once start run pretty good and if you turn off and start in the next 1o minutes not problem only if you stay more than 30 minutes.

    I will appreciatte any tips. I already change the spark plugs and indexing but the problem is not solved.

    Sounds like it's heat related. Get an open air gap spark tester and check the spark when this happens. Should jump 7/16". On that mtr, you may have a bad ignition module.

    I Appreciatte you help. I just bought the boat 1 month ago and apparently the previous owner replace the ignition module last year. But I will perform the test you said to see what happen.

    Mexico fuel?

    DO YOU HAVE: GOOD COMPRESSION, PROPERLY TIMED SPARK, PROPER FUEL AIR MIXTURE?

    Yes Mexico Fuel apparently 87 octane. But I will change to 90 octane to see if improve. There is any fuel stabilizer that can improve the gas I have on the tank and some inyector cleaner?

    Compresion is 120 thru 125 in all cylinders, New spark plugs indexing according procedure, air filter is clean. But in coahuila the temperature is extrematelly hot 40 to 45 Celsius.

    45x1.8+32= hot as hell!! (113F) yeah id see if someones put the fuel cooler on it yet....

    I donīt know But For Sure I will try on Mine. Because once the motor is cold start at the first time and run perfectly.
