Could you tell me about the spark advance rod on a 1989 50 johnson, such as should it be up tight plastic to plastic or should you be able to see some of the adjustment screw. when i bought the motor it was tight plastic to plastic. i put i timing light on it and at 4000 rpm or wot its around 4 atdc. at idle it was about the same. i moved the adjustment out some and now i have got it about 16 btc at 4000 rpm "wot" just need a lillte help dont want to burn it up what do you yall think how should it be
