Default Ignition Switch on Early 90's Evinrude

Using the diagram found on this forum for a similar model I wired up a new ignition switch. Not working, and this is a new motor boat combo to me, as I just bought the both of them 2 weeks ago.

M (raised) - kill circuit (black / yellow)
    M (regular) - ground - (black)
    A - accessory - (purple)
    S - starter / solenoid - (white)
    C - choke or primer solenoid - (purple/white)
    B - batt - (red)

This boat is new to me and perhaps someone has seen a similar config as mine.

I have no white wire, but I do have a thicker yellow/red (assuming this to be starter/solenoid)

I also have a tan wire, but the black/yellow wire that "should" be for the kill circuit does kill the motor, but in both key positions. It was cut short by the previous owner.

The rest of the wires seem to match the above diagram.

Yellow/red should be starter solenoid. A lot of motors send fused +12VDC to ign switch, that is usually red/purple.
    Choke s/b yellow/black??
    Tan wire is overheat sensor?

Can you test the ign switch to make sure it ungrounds the killer wire when in the on and start position?

    Yellow w/Red = Solenoid

    Purple w/White stripe = Choke

    Red w/Purple = Battery

    2 Purple = Ignition

    Black w/Yellow = Magneto

    Black = Ground
