how to adjust carb floats 2001 Johnson Ocean pro without factory gauge
I need someone to share some measurments on the correct float location. Im rebuilding my carbs (225 hp) but don't have a factory gauge. (thought repair kits had a gauge). I have dial calipers, scales, micrometers, etc. so if someone can share the technical data I think I can set the floats without a factory gauge. I need a service manual for this thing.

Just turn it over, and adjust the stop tang so that the float top is level with the gasket surface of the carb body.
Kits have no float setting gauge in them.
I usually give the float just an ever so slight tilt up at the other side of the float away from the pivot pin.
And I mean slight....maybe 1/64 of an inch. Just enough to barely see it.
This (to me anyway) gives me a very slightly lower gas level when assembled, and I feel it puts more force on the needle to close it as the fuel level rises.

I have the same carbs/engine and have one that keeps hanging. The clip is swinging around and getting stuck in the indention and letting the float stay open. I do not know where to position the clip to stop this.
