We can smell fuel odor in the compartments in the boat. Have inspected all the fuel lines and can see no leaks. Any suggestions? We have rebuilt the carbs, replace the vacuum switch. Ordered new carb kits again because had to reset the floats in the parking lot from the boat ramp. Think possibly the gaskets are warped. It will start fine first thing and then after fishing for awhile the boat will start right up then die. If try to get on plane will fall on it's face. The primer ball is soft every time. If we run it at 1000 rpms for about 5 - 10 mins it will usually run. Have ordered all the fuel components and are going to replace as soon as they get here. Including rebuilding the carbs again. Thanks in advance for any help.
Did you get any responses are did you resolve the issue? I also have a 150 faststrike that starts up easy but needs to "warm-up" before moving. if you allow it the time to warm up its runs like a scalded dog.
If you can pass along any useful tidbits that would be greatly appreciated.
I don't see gaskets warping sine they are a flexible material....is the primer bulb soft or collapsed....if collapsed it my be your vent or pick up tube....or a bad fuel line or bulb
is the tank in good shape....also is the tank metal...plastic or built in fiberglass...I have read if it is fiberglass..the ethanol raises hell on them....causeing them to become porus and leak
if they are portable tanks..make sure they vent good....since u smell gas on the boat..there may be a leak there in the tank system....

Always check your pisser for water when boating..takes a sec to look back..
Do you have access to running a portable tank and a new hose? That way you can determine if you have fuel isues with the motor or the fuel system(fuel line and tank). That cuts the job in half.

I would pull the tank if the boat hull compartments smelled of gas.
Don't see any way the gas can get from the outboard to the boat compartments.!
a buddy was getting nauseas from the gas smell all the way up in the front of the boat..
I had had three leaks actually, all from inside the cover of the motor!!!
we would tilt the motor and it would drip out of the cover and donw the motor sometimes onto the transom bracket and some might even fall inside the boat
I had known at least 2 of the carbs were leaking out of the side where the brass ball is pegged into the carb bowl cover..
then i found a loose hose clamp on the fuel line inside the motor
and eventually I found a bad o-ring where one of the hoses comes out of the vapor seperator box...I found the last one when I removed the air box and squeezed the bolt...a fine line a gas would squirt out that connection because of a bad o-ring
for a long time I had thought it was all gas from the carb bowl leak and just from running out of the throats when tilted..
I could smell it once in a while, but it never bothered me...but my buddy was getting sick from it...at THE BOW OF THE BOAT
I think the fumes fall and are cuaght on the floor .
we had been hunting from the boat and had a blind up...so no wind was taking the fumes away
your motor has the same carbs i bet....or at least very similar....60 degree V
