I have all kinds of problems with this engine, mostly my own fault however. I work offshore and generally have a very sparatic schedule so my outboard constantly sits for lengths of time with old fuel and no winterization at all. the engine has spark, fresh fuel and plugs but the engine only runs for about 10 secs before it stalls, and will stall anytime i try to give it throttle during that time. I pulled the carbs and soked them in carb cleaner although i did not rebuild them, the fuel lines are in good shape but the fuel pump only pumps when the engine is running for that 10secs and i cant keep it running while pumping the primer ball. It is a VRO pump and when I diconect the fuel feed to the carbs the line only pulses fuel when the engine is kinda running but not when it is cranking, also the electric primer only gets fuel after I pump the primer ball. I would imagine that the fuel pump and carbs need over hauling but I also have issues with what i think is timing. I messed with the linkage that adjusts whatever that apparatus is that is under the fly wheel. I think it is the statur and I dont know where it is supposed to be. I just keep moving it around until the engine seems to try to keep running. Thank you.
