I HAVE 2 EVINRUDE SPORTWIN OUTBOARDS..ONE IS A MODEL#9022C SER#E-00001 [YEAR UNKNOWN ]WHICH HAS A BAD ENGINE AND THE OTHER ONE A MODEL #9822D SER #E-17788 [1968] WITH DAMAGED LOWER DRIVE GEARS. BOTH HAVE SHORT DRIVE LENGTHS....I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF IT IS ACCEPTABLE TO INSTALL THE GOOD UNIT WITH THE BAD UNIT [BOTH LOOK THE SAME] AS A SWAP OR ARE THE DESIGNES NOT THE SAME. FISHING IS GOOD AND I AM STUCK ON SHORE...MAYBE I SHOULD INVEST IN A NEW SET OF OARS INSTEAD.....AN IDEAS OUT THERE.
I don't know the 9.5's very well but the 9822 is a '68 and the 9022 is a '70. unless others weigh in I would expect them to interchange as most other LU's do on the other same hp series. Worst case scenerio, it shouldn't hurt to try it, that's what I usually do and it it fits well and doesn't seem to bind anywhere then it's probably good. And make sure it's pumping water after.
