Default Evinrude "Red Plug" wiring connection question

I am looking for a wiring harness (from engine to ignition switch) for a '95 9.9 with the red plug connector. I was under the impression that all "red plugs" where the same but now I'm not so sure. One fellow that I talked to, had one for a '89 but said they changed in '90 and it wouldn't work for my engine -- another guy says "they're all the same fom '95 back". So who is correct here? Thanks!

Default Re: Evinrude "Red Plug" wiring connection question

The basic "red plug" connector was used from 1973 through 1995. The boat wiring harness red plugs are all the same.
