Evinrude model 9522C water pump replace

ok so i just bought this bought about a month ago and it ran great started first pull and still does but i stoped pumping water so i need to either replace it and rebuild it. I am ASE certified on auto repair but dont know a lick about boat motors just wanted to know if someone could walk me threw it with pictures or just tell me on the forum. with money the way it is i cant afford to take it to a shop so i gotta learn from sctrach PLEASE HELP my son hasnt stopped bugging me since it broke to take him fishing.

ok so i figured out its a 1965 evinrude still need the water pump help

Tim,
here's the parts manual for your motor, 1965 9.5hp Evinrude.
A water pump is fairly simple to do. The part diagrams will help you some. You can also search the old threads on this forum for help. Also, you might want to check ebaymotors. You may get lucky and find a cheap OEM service manual for your motor. And lastly, the forum members will be glad to answer any questions you have. I'll post back if I can locate some pics.

i would like to purchase a manuel but wouldnt make much sense cause when i get it fixed im selling it because i need a 20hp or better thank u for any help

ok so i got the new impeller and put it in but now im having a problem the lower unit doesnt seem to want to go back in so i can put the 4 bottom bolts in

The splines on the driveshaft have to mate to the powerhead coupler. Rotate the flywheel slightly and it should start. Make sure you get the water tube lined up w/waterpump housing outlet and I usually push the shift rod down (forward) in the lower unit, and put the motors shifter in reverse when lining up the tube/driveshaft. Just start a couple bolts when those are lined up, and then use a pliers to pull the lower shift rod up (reverse), and mate it to the coupler while moving shifter toward forward. If you have a friend to help, it's easier. I've learned to have 3 hands.. haha. Good luck!
