Default Evinrude 60 te60tletd trouble starting

I just bought a 93 evinrude 60 that is having trouble staring the vro was already removed when I purchased it, it all looks to be done properly, but I didn't like the way the old liness looked so I replaced them with new lines also I wasnt sure if it was maby sucking air from one of the lines, all 3 cylinders are firing and all carbs are clean. Once u get it started it idles good and top end is also good it just has problems restarting once I am ready to go to the next fishing hole, also this past weekend I took it out and when I was trying to load it on the trailer at it kept dying, very frustrating, any tips would be great. Thanks in advance

When the vro was removed did they plumb the primer/choke fuel lines in correctly ?

You need fuel from the fuel pump going to the primer when cranking over for starting.

Sorry didn't know what you was meaning, it does have a line going to the primer when u push the key in it is supplying gas in the carbs. I'm really thinking there is a problem with the pump, I didn't want to replace it with the same vro/fuel pump the price is around $400. Any advice on what pump I should go with? Thanks agin

And any other procedures that I might not be aware of, as far as I can tell three lines should hook up to the pump, one from the fuel tank, one from the motor I'm guessing for vacume to work the pump and one going to the carbs/primer?

That engine is quite vulnerable for back-pressure. Check that the two exhaust relief holes on top of the leg are ABOVE water when starting, or at low idle. Just trim it out a bit.

This problem even occurs when i have the ears on it running at my house. That should eliminate that thought.. Thanks for all the help

    What is your starting proccedure?

If you are't starting it the right way no 2 stroke outboard will start right, mine has choke plates and not a primer so I don't know what difference that makes but you have to advance the timing, hit the key and just bump the choke and on mine at least if the advance isn't pretty close to what the engine likes it will be hard to get going but if you get it right it fires right off.

Cold start- push key in for a few seconds and rise the choke up and it fires right up it takes a minute for it to warm up the I lower the choke and it idles fine. When I turn the motor off and wait a few min it will not crank I have to prime and choke it again and when I put it in gear sometimes it dies.

Update--I removed the old vro/fuel pump and replaced it with a regular omc fuel pump and it is still running the same, I was holping something was wrong with the old pump but that's not it so I went threw it again and found two wires "orange" coming off the stator going to the power pack that was taken off and taped up any ideas why this might have been done and what it could be affecting. I'm running out of ideas to fix the problem. Thanks for everyone's input i will keep everyone posted..
