My evinrude main dealer here in England is unable to get me one, I have all the other water pump parts new, so I guess my options are:
1. attempt a repair with epoxy. Does anyone have any experience of doing this successfully? I'm not massively confident.
2. Source a second-hand one. Any advice on which other years/HP use the same water pump so I can swap that part out.
3. Import one, are they available in America? Couldn't find anything on iboats.
thanks in advance for any advice, this is my first attempt at restoring an outboard than ran really well up until last year. Ignition system is done, just the lower unit to fix and she should be back to her former glory.
Re: Evinrude 1962 Sportwin - Water pump lower bearing housing
1962 Sportwin is a 10hp. As far as that part goes, I wouldn't even attempt to fix it. Look in the "Top Secret File" in this forum and look under the slavage yards list. In that list of sources, you should easily be able to find a new or used one. I would advise you to get a new one, at all cost though, so you'll have good assurance of good service from your rebuild. The part number is 278004 Bearing Housing and Seal.

Unfortunately marineengine.com don't ship outside of the states! I contacted them regarding some other parts I was after but no joy. Does anyone know which other motors use the same water pump? I will see what salvage places I can find in england.

If we have to, edd_barker, one of us could purchase it and then you could pay us to ship it to you and you re-imburse us for the cost. Where there's a will, there's a way.

Re: Evinrude 1962 Sportwin - Water pump lower bearing housing
Thanks Zephyr, that's a kind offer, much appreciated. I will do my best to source one in the UK as otherwise I fear the costs are going to spiral, already spent far more than the motor is worth. I can't bear to give up on it though! Hoping I can find a second-hand unit in better shape than mine
