I just revived a 1993 Evinrude 40HP E40TTLETB which has an electric (solenoid?) primer. It seems to spew fuel from the "manual valve" on the primer. I needed to keep the primer held down for a while before it would run on it own, and I noticed while held down, there from fuel leaking. Also, if I prime up my fuel line with the engine off, when I press the primer, fuel spits out as if relieving pressure in the line. After releasing, I don't notice any fuel leaking.
Any idea what might be going on? I have no experience with this motor, so I'm not sure how the valve should be set.
Any pointers to an owners manual would help too...
