Cleaning and tuning Carby for 110HP Johnson

Hi Team.

I have a rich mixture because my plugs are always wet and starting is always an issue.

Can you all inform me what I need to do to ensure I run the right mixture so that my plugs do not wet up and I can start ok.

Your carburetors have all fixed jets and therefore nothing to adjust. The fuel/oil ratio is determined by the fuel pump, a VRO2 in your case, I believe, unless you have converted to premix in which case you should be mixing 50:1.

Your primer solenoid should have the red lever set parallel to the solenoid cylinder so that the primer is only functioning when your ignition key is pushed in.

The carburetors function best relative to the fuel/air mixture after being rebuilt with complete carburetor kits. Fortunately, the crossflow carburetors are among the easiest to rebuild.

Running with properly functioning thermostats will help to keep the engine running well, as will the right spark plugs, properly gapped.

You will probably want to test your recirculation check valves and de-carbon the engine if you have not already done so.

New carbi kits on the way (probably 3 weeks away).

I still use the original VRO oil unit.

Have replaced with new stats. I am using the rec. Champion plugs with correct gap - Your recommendation on choice of plug?

How do I test my "recirculation check valves" - wehre are they located?

Is it OK to decarb the engine by spraying fogging oil or other down throat of carbi whiel running?

fogging oil is not a decarber. seafoam deep creep and seafoam are decarbers, i believe i directed you to the engine faq forum.
