jUST BOUGHT AND OLD BOAT AND MOTOR. REGISTERED AS A 1965. CAN'T FIND ANYWHERE TAT THEY MADE A 35 HP IN 1965. HAVE LOOKED ALL OVER MOTOR AND CAN'T FIND MODEL NUMBER. SERIAL NIMBER IS 1919790. THIS IS ON PLATE ON MOUNT AND ON SILVER PLUG ON MOTOR. ALSO WHAT OIL MIXTURE WOULD BE THE RIGHT ONE.

are you sure it is a 35, and not a 33. just because the boat is a 1965, does not mean the motor is. post some pictures of the motor.

on the front of the motor cover it says 35 hp and thats what I was going by

need model # or pictures. there are a lot of motors that have a 35 on them some are actually 25's, some 40's. hoods can swap.

Serial number 1919790 was built in 1959. That would indeed indicate a 35hp. Look again, that plate on the mount where you found the serial number should also have the model number. Should be RD-21 if manual start, or RDS-21 if electric start. Make that RDL / RDSL if long shaft.

hi lil dinghy the yr of your motor is 1965 by the serial no. you gave...the numbers started with 1755799 in 1965 and started with 1960827 in 1966 so that's where yours fits in ....good luck i have a 64 3 hp sat for many yrs fuel is givin me fits so pay attention to your fuel system after you see if you have spark....al borden

in 64 omc went to 50 to 1 mix 16 oz to 6 gallons or 100 to 1 synthetic 8 oz to 6 gallons ....al

Hey fishin, you must have a different list than I have. Mine says that numbers 1,743,081 through 1,995,465 belong to 1959. My list comes from "The Old Outboard Book" by Peter Hunn, a most respected book among collectors. So where did your information come from? One or the other of us got bad info.

Hunn's list says the two million mark was hit in 1960.
