    really?

I knew years ago they had motor where they required 25:1 ratios

butin 1999 I would have thought everything would be 50:1 after intital break in period.

what motors require something other than 50:1?

Ficht and E-Tec absolutely must not be fed premix ... the only modern 2 stroke motor exceptions I know of. With those motors, fuel never sees the crankcase at all. Everything else is 50:1 TCW-3 . 25:1 (and higher oil content) was before the mid sixties. The only other oddball I know off is the British Seagull and Neptunes, which used 16:1, and smoked accordingly.
