89 110hp evinrude -power loss

Have a 110 hp evinrude v4. Was pulling a tuber and suddenly the boat just bogged down. Will not go over 3000 rpm about 5-10 mph. Checked compression 95-105 per cylinder. Changed spark plugs, sprayed out carbs. When I took it out for a test run one of the new spark plugs was showing oil others were clean. Does this sound like a coil problem? Only local shop is booked up for a month in advance- Im missing my boat! Any ideas????

Okay- Tonight we have discovered that we have no spark on 2 cylinders. Someone mentioned it could be the piston rings? Any thoughts?

Missing spark on 2 cylinders is your problem. Correct that. You need to buy a service manual and go from there.By the way welcome to iboats.

Thanks-after doing some testing it seems the power pack is abd so I am gonna order a new one

I have the same problem wit my 1989 110hp v4 johnson. when i take off it goes to 5000rpm and then drops to 3000rpms. don't know what to do. did the new powerpack solve your problem??
