88 110 hp w/ intermittent hi RPM pulsing VRO alarm
My 1988 Evinrude runs well but I just started having VRO oil delivery alarm on intermittent basis at hi RPM. I immediately cut the throttle and the alarm stops. I recently replaced my oil line plastic clamps with stainless worm gear clamps. I'm thinking possible air leak, any help would be appreciated.
Re: 88 110 hp w/ intermittent hi RPM pulsing VRO alarm
Check the oil in the remote tank: The oiling system on that engine has two different alarms. An alarm that repeats quickly is a VRO alarm. An alarm every 20 seconds is an oil tank alarm. The tank alarm is set of by the sensor in the tank. If it gets exposed, (low oil in the tank) the alarm will sound. You may find that the sensor is covered when the boat is at rest. Once you get up on plane, the boat's planing attitude may change and the oil may move to one end of the tank, exposing the sensor.
