I have a question regarding the checks on a stator for this an 85hp 1969 evinrude engine model 85993E. I did the two tests for continuity on the stator. I disconnected the stator from the bus bar then checked each wire for continuity with ground, using my multimeter. There was none. Good. Then I performed the second test by setting to low ohms scale and connecting the multimeter to both yellow leads from stator. I had an infinite reading. The tests results should be .75 +,- .2 ohms. I also checked the rectifier, and it's fried. I have about 27 volts going to battery when the engines running, not sure about a.c. volts going to batt. I know I need a new rectifier, but does the one failed stator test require a new stator, and if so why?
