85 hp evinrude water pump

Hi all
I have a 1979 85hp V4 evinrude and need to replace water pump and housing
quession is witch o-ring goes under the impella houseing between top ware plate and the outer houseing. I have a square type o-ring and a round type of the same size can anyone help or a link to show witch one goes where Cheers Trevor

If the impeller has a groove in the bottom of it to accept a O Ring, the round type O Ring would be installed there.

The flat type O Ring fits in a groove in the impeller housing between the impeller housing and the impeller cup.

Sorry but I don't know what you mean by "the impeller housing between top wear plate and the outer housing".

I think you are on the mark that is were Iam talking about but I have an other o-ring spare Iam not sure where it goes

they say to put it under the guide on the top of the outer houseing around the sharft collar but dont look right no where for it to sit

Is #61 what you're speaking of? The top driveshaft O Ring is #62.

seal #61 is fine
The diagrame I have has a o-ring between #59 and #83
but it dont seam right the original pump when I pulled it down didnt have any there.

so looks like I have a spare o-ring it is the same size as the square o-ring
thats why I was not sure what was what the manuals dont say square or round

#62 is the one for top of the drive shaft

will be putting it together today so will let you know how it went

#66 in your picture is a seal, not a O Ring.
