Ok I just put a new water pump impellar on this engine and put everything back together and still not getting any water to the heads. I can take the 2 lines loose from the head and insert a water hose and water will come out the otherside and if I block it off the other side it will come out the exhaust. Is the impellar on the water pump suppost to be in there clockwise or counter clock wise. Any info would b greatly appreciated.
Its hard to tell bc this particular motor has 2 tubes unlike the newer ones... It was a pain n the ***** to get the lower unit back n there but I feel like they went in. any other ideas.. people tell me my thermostat could b hung or dirt dobber could have built a nest and not letting it open and they say to let it run and see if it opens but im afraid to bc the upper part of engine gets warm quick bc no water is circulatin through the head
Ok I took the lower unit off again and came to the conclusion that the tubes was not going into the water pump housing. After further inspection I notices on each copper tube there was piece of plastic tube about 4 inches long and found out they slide down and fit n the housing. I tries this and put it all back together and still no water is getting to the heads. The water just comes out the exhaut and 2 little holes one on the right side right above the fill hole for the lower unit and one directly on the back. Im completly out of ideas can some one help, im to the point of just selling the thing now
Those plastic tubes are alignment tubes, remove them from the water tubes and install them in the water pump housing, they are to align the water tubes into the pump housing. If I remember correctly, one is longer than the other, so you can align one water tube at a time.
