75 70hp johnson powerhead swaps?

I have a 75 johnson 70hp with a bad powerhead. I was going to have it rebuilt but my wife about fell over when we got the estimate as we live in a small town and unit had to be shipped out for head/boring work...what year and size powerheads will fit this motor...the lower unit is in good shape. are there place that sell good powerheads? what is a reasonable price for a used one? THANKS

Any 49 cid powerhead with a 4 spline crank will fit. Some later powerheads had larger mounting bolts (3/8 vs 5/16) but you can drill out the holes. The 56 cid 3 cylinder powerheads will fit the bolt pattern but the exhaust paths are different. Wont work.Did you check the prices here on iboats?
