63 5.5 evinrude water pump

Took apart the entire system everything looks fine. Still wont pump any water. Don't really know what the problem is. Thanks!

when you put it back together did you use a new impeller and remember to put the little pin back that stops the drive shaft from rotating free of the impeller? Did you make sure the water tube lines up with the receiving grommet on top of the water pump? When you have it apart you can hook a hose directly to the water tube and give everything a really good flush. Rick.

Back to basics: Where are you running this thing? The pump has to be submerged before starting the motor.

A bad thermostat will not keep it from pumping. There should be full flow even when the 'stat is closed. The 'stat only controls part of the cooling system.
